Welcome to The Murphy Auto MuseumThe Murphy Auto Museum, located in Oxnard, California, is a collection of over 45 beautiful vintage automobiles and Americana housed inside an 30,000 square foot facility. Our unique collection spans from 1903 to present day.
We are also home to one of the largest H/O scale train layouts, with many scale miles of track. Enjoy watching passenger and freight trains as they wind their way through cities, towns and the countryside.
We are open on weekends and during the week, Wednesdays 6-10pm and Fridays, or by appointment for special groups. We have exciting new exhibits planned each quarter in our main showroom and various community activities throughout the year. We hope you come visit us soon!
1963 Studebaker Avanti R2
With it's fiberglass body and futuristic grille-less nose, the Avanti (Italian for “forward”) epitomizes American automotive enthusiasm. It's rumored the coke bottle body styling was inspired by the four man design team's interest in the bikini-clad girls seen at nearby Palm Springs resorts. Peer inside to view Andy Granatelii's signature on the glovebox. Andy helped race the Avanti early on in order to get much needed publicity for Studebaker.Car Spotlight »
Modernism at the Murphy July 5 - September 28
The spirit of Modernism means a culture of experimentation with new materials leading to innovations in form and function for transportation, architecture and design. We’ll have historically significant cars from this mid century era as well as contemporary furniture on display. Two beautifully restored Studebaker Avanti's are on exhibit, plus exquisite Lincoln’s from the late 1950s, a Holiday House mobile mansion, the holy grail of contemporary design.
Come celebrate Modernism at The Murphy Auto Museum.
